The black shadowbox frames that we create come with a wrapped edge mat and an off white back.  The papers used to wrap the edges are all marbleized papers from various parts of the world.  Many are considered an art form onto themselves.  The frame has a tight fit on the glass in the front, and has tape on the backside where the back attaches to the frame.  These steps make for an almost airtight frame that should give you many, many years of pleasure.  Small and medium frames have hangers as well as an easel back, while the larger frames have only a sawtooth hanger attached.
